Eventually, this blog will be a kind of "dissertation-in-progress," a way to share scraps, quotes, ideas, and whatnot that I find along the path of researching and writing. The dissertation proper will be on the intersection of the music of Edgard Varese with the larger philosophical discourse of modernity, particularly the philosophies of materialism espoused by T.W. Adorno, Walter Benjamin, Nietzsche, Lacan, and Henri Bergson.
